  • 2016 CTS-V: 640hp, 200mph top speed

Wow!! I really wish this would be ready when my '12 CTS-V corporate lease is up in a few months, but it doesn't appear so. Either way, there is a high likelihood one of these will end up in my garage in the next year or two. This thing is going to be a monster.

Dayum. The regular CTS was already the best looking American sedan out there. This is just stunningly beautiful. You can see some of the influences from the Elmiraj Concept in the front clip.

It only sucks they won't build the actual Elmiraj or something close to it. For those that don't know, here is is..
Learn how your Cadillac Autosense Liftgate lets you open your liftgate by approaching the rear of your Cadillac vehicle with your key fob in your pocket or bag.

And here is the new CTS-V

Uhh, chief, that is the CTS V Sport. A HUGE difference from this upcoming CTS-V. Not even in the same category. Like 210hp and a crapton of torque and a bunch of other differences.

Except for the lack of a V8 in the ATS-V and the lack of a manual option in the CTS-V, I agree.

don't get me wrong, i love an NA V8 but a TT v6 is a pretty solid choice. it's more power and more efficient. plus it's just the ATS, which is a "smaller" car. if the internals of that 3.6 are any good, it is a couple of bolt ons and tune away from ~550 wheel hp.

even if they had a manual in the cts-v, personally i wouldnt have it if the alternative is a better/faster 8 speed auto.
in the corvette i would happily choose the 7 speed manual, but not in this car.

No manual in the new CTS-V? Dammit! Was hoping the new 7 speed would be in there.

I bet it fits and if enough people really complain, Caddy will drop it in the car. That said, if the 8-speed is as good as they say it is, the take rate on the 7-speed manual will be small.

I like the auto in my '12 V and I like the manual in the Vette. Best of both worlds for DD beater versus weekend/track car.

Yeah those 8 speed autos are nice! I helped Lou @ LG Motorsports out at MSR when he was prototyping a tranny cooler for the autos in the C7. It rev-matched the downshifts and all that. I can see how the true manual-shift transmission will probably be extinct in 10-15 years.

Only about 10-15% of the 2nd generation CTS-V were manuals. Economically it makes sense, but it doesn't make me like it.

I get that, but the sound of the V8 is part of the experience for me, so it's sad that it's not an option. They're putting titanium rods in the ATS-V so it's supposed to have good upside.

I know exactly what an SS is and I personally really like it, but comparing it to the 2016 CTS-V doesn't make any sense. There are a very large number of differences between the two cars including a big price difference.
