I plan on doing the harpoon mod soon and if you're interested maybe we could tackle this together and knock out both trucks.. Just learned of this recently, when you fill up and the gas handle stops, I used to grab the handle and when it clicks or stopped again call it good and hang up the gas handle.
Since I've learned that I can get A LOT more gas in the tank due to vent tube and filler tube going so far into the tank. Now like some other guys I can get alteast 7 more gallons of gas in the tank, but it's at a snails pace. Here's a couple of links to show you.
As far as oil & filter that's debateable by some. I've always used Motorcraft 15w/40 Diesel oil and Motorcraft filter. Motorcraft come in 5qrt bottles and siince it takes 15qrts it's easy. And my truck seems to like it.
But now for winter 5w/40 Mobil1 Turbo Diesel Oil (Synthetic) then in spring I'll switch back to 15w/40 but will stick with synthetic, most likely Rotella.
Although Motorcraft isn't synthetic, mine seemed likes Motorcraft, so I'll try Rotella T6. I do change my oil a lot more frequent than most.
I have about the same mileage as you do.
BTW: Wal-Mart carries all this.
