  • I'm in the market for a bbq smoker

Looking to spend about $1500-2000. I would love a reverse flow but for the size I want I don't think it's in my budget. Recommendations? Have one you want to get rid of? Lets see what ya'll have.

Trailer mounted would be good but if it's on casters I would be okay with that.

I was leaning towards something that could cook about 15 briskets or so, so something like this.

You should talk to my buddy Seth, pretty sure they can custom make you just about anything you want!

15 briskets is going to be a pretty good size smoker. Christian and I have one that will do that, so I can say first hand that unless you are doing that much often, you might consider something a bit smaller. Just due to space requirements, plus it eats a lot of wood.

Here's a trailer mounted, looks like it's big enough to do what you want. It's under your budget, though would need some work to be nice.

This one is way over your budget, but awesome. I'd love to have it.

I was originally going to build my own but now I need a smoker by next week for christmas since my shitty one I've been using to get by broke. So a custom made new one is out of the question.

Used to be a ton a CL, but the amount/quality of them has dwindled. However, it's still a great place to monitor. Every so often I see some that with some wire brushing and paint they'd go another 30+ years if maintained. Just tap around with a hammer to look for rust/holes that are not apparent.

Hell, like that one posted above on the trailer. A little work and that thing will look brand new assuming it is not rusted out anywhere.

This one is not going to do 15 briskets, but is a pretty solid deal. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/for/4711230341.html

I've been slowly working my way into the catering business and have done a few big events where I rented a smoker and/or borrowed one. I would like to just have one of my own to be able to do those events.

I know you arent going to believe this, but you can get brand new metal that is rusting already.

high heat and unprepared surface, and high temp paint = rust really quick

Probably a rattle can paint job, no big deal, all smokers rust at some point
