  • what about Healthcare insuranace ... what are y'all doing?

Since my BCBS of TX is cancelling as of 12/31/14, now I need to get something else today.

Every plan I've looked at costs 70% more for far less coverage than I had previously....plus no RX drug coverage until I meet the $5K deduct.

I'm screwed no matter which way I go...

What are y'all doing on this topic?

I liked my insurance and my doctor so I got to keep them.

If you read his post, it's because BCBS cancelled his policy. Meaning it did not meet the new criteria as dictated by our Dictatorship.

I'm just going to pay the fine.

            ^^^^^ This.

I had Humana with a 10k deductible and a 15 million lifetime cap for under $1500 per year but that is gone now.

Yeah, I'm still with BCBS til the end of the month, but the choices for a new replacement policy are ridiculous.

My old policy was 325.00 per month, replacement policy is 570.00 for less coverage and no help with RX drugs until full 5000.00 deductible is met.

I'll never even get close unless I have a catastrophic situation develop.

              This is fucking crazy.

Hey man, if you liked your old policy you should've been able to keep it.

My folks ended up going on some aca plan last year, their total was $.04/per month. That isn't a typo. Four cents. The plan was fucking worthless. It covered prescriptions, but nothing else. The closest doctor was over 100 miles away.

All things being relatively equal, their monthly cost is set to increase to $150, for the same coverage. To find a plan that includes a doctor that is in their town is over $450/month.

And I have a suspicion that this shit will increase at will each year.

Mine was a 100.00 a month until obummercare took effect in aug. It went to 260 then and like you they where cancling that plan on 12-31. It was going to go to 300 a month and the policy was shit.

The eaisest way i found to shop quickly was the healthcare.gov website. I was able to check all the companies in my area and compare quickly. Bcbs silver plan was not the cheapest but the best value for the dollar. 209 now with half the deductable rx coverage copays etc.

I'm really not digging obamacare either. Thankfully this year my employer covers 1/2 - so I'm paying around 600 a month for better coverage than I had before for about the same price. However, it's still expensive.

Is there such a thing as "self insured?" At 7200/yr, that seems really ridiculous.
