  • Ford CEO confirms Ford Focus RS is coming to America

Always thought these were cool little go karts. It's a shame we miss out on some of the great cars that are made in England and Australia. If we're lucky, maybe this will start a trend of bringing them over.

We U.S. Americans have never had the Ford Focus RS. That is a tragedy. It is also a tragedy that new Ford CEO Mark Fields says he's going to fix.

This information is brought to us by Autoweek editor Jake Lingeman on Twitter, and it comes from the new man at the top himself today at Ford's end of year event. Suddenly I like Mark Fields quite a bit.

The last Focus RS was powered by a machine gun-esque 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 305 horsepower, but a new one — the one we're getting — is currently under development.

The last we heard, it could have a version of the 2.3-liter turbo four in the Mustang EcoBoost, which makes a lot of sense. The word on the street lately is that it will stay front-wheel drive, which I'm okay with because demonic torque steer is a lot of fun.

(Update: Our friends at Road & Track think it could go all-wheel drive, actually. I'd say this one's still up in the air for now.)

At last, America. At last we get the Ford Focus we deserve.

LOL @ 305 hp and FWD. The Focus ST is already a torque steering bitch

Make that x2 for FWD, they better rethink that.

There is a video of two RS mules tearing up the nurbering and everyone, including myself seems to think they are all wheel drive. I'm glad they are finally bringing it, but word is it will be produced in very limited quantities and cost well over 30k

The STi is mid 30s so I wouldnt be surprised. The problem is it wont sell at that price point IMO. STI's have stupid resale value, the Focus is going to tank in that category.

Still a Focus, so still no one will care.

After owning one for a while, I really, really hate Foci!
At least it was Lyn's gas saver daily only, but fuck I hated it!

The audience that would have gone for this already dove into the Focus ST.

Wonder if they are just as prone to turning into rattle box's. Torque steer is cool til ya start changing lanes. Hope it goes awd and sells good.

There's probably absolutely nothing in common to the one you drove, and the ST/RS besides having the name Focus.

If it has AWD and over 300 hp, I'd be tempted to get one as my gas sipping DD.
