No 'best place to live for young people' should be a place where you can't buy a bottle of cheap vodka. ;-)

Not sure, but I know you can't in Garland.

Hell, when I was younger you couldn't even buy beer there.

Not that I'm aware of. The law was voted to allow liquor stores in city limits last year finally, but I have yet to see one set up shop.

Aren't you on the Mansfield border? I would think they'd be every where at this point.

The only way Arlington is good for young singles is it's proximity to Fort Worth and Dallas. It's the burbs with a six flags for cryin' out loud. Unless you're the type to spend your evenings at the Sunshine bar, 15 miles east or west is going to be a better choice.

Yeah, and there is one on cooper in the center in the front of where gearheads used to be. They are popping up, they just opened the other day.

Don't forget Specs that used to be Majestic on Pioneer. It's DWG/Pantego...but whatever.

There's a glorious Total Wine where Ultimate Electronics used to be.

For the record, that list is horseshit, but it's cute how people who've never lived in Arlington like to bag on it every time it's brought up. I've spent 31 years of my life here and know it well. There are things that aren't what they used to be (thanks Katrina!) but I'll take it over some of the other festering armpits on the list.

I would think areas like Uptown Dallas would be more ideal for that crowd.

Yep, that Total Wine and More by the Parks mall is awesome. Their handles of Crown are $10-12 cheaper than anywhere else around. There are a few on Cooper. A couple on Pioneer. Eric, you've been sleeping! These have been open for a little while now.

I've lived 28 of my 37 years in Arlington. It's pretty much a dump, and the bad parts are growing and getting worse.
