They basically make their profits by cutting wages to their employes, not training their employes, and refusing medical treatment to their inmates while matching cost per inmate to what it cost the state. The amount of man power required would cost too much. Prisons run by convincing the inmates to comply with the system and by giving them something to lose if they don't comply.
