1st thing you are overlooking, no one will give a shit or notice that you have a Rolex on your wrist. You wear a Rolex because you enjoy it and admire its history and respect the craftsmanship. Hell a Rolex, doesn't even keep that great if time in comparison to a $10 digital watch from Walmart. So there is no reason to buy a fake except to impress others and no one will notice your real or fake watch.

There are some great looking watches under $1,000. Hell, I've got two I'd be willing to sell, and they are not fake.
A Maurice LaCroix and a Lucien Piccard. Both are gorgeous watches, I just don't wear them anymore unfortunately and they are collecting dust. Let me know if you're interested.2009 Mercedes C63 AMG

same can be said about a lot of things though... cars, car parts, shoes, clothes, the list goes on. What's the difference?
I agree there is a limit though, I'm not opposed to spending money on something nice, but within reason. I won't spend the money on a rolex or hublot or any of those watches that run multiple to tens of thousands of dollars, but a nice watch in the $1,000 to $1,500 range, I don't see an issue with if you have the money. I would say for a nice watch, $2k would be my absolute MAX if I really wanted it and had the EXTRA money to spend...2009 Mercedes C63 AMG
