I bought the truck thinking it needed a new motor due to low oil pressure and most likely cam/cam bearing issues. Turned out it was just from a dealer doing a carbon clean to the engine and all the deposit stopped up the oil pump relief valve. The oil pan had half an inch of crap in it and doing research it looks like its mostly from the way they redirect the oil flow for the afm. Fixed that cleaned the motor and a new oil pump and its been perfect every since.

On the bright side my motor has perfect compression, does not burn oil and with the exception of no where near the claimed gas mileage runs excellent. I missed the opening to get in the black bear tuning event this satuday in ft worth which I would have loved to get done. The 6 speed is nice but runs much better when leaving in tow haul mode.

At least there is lots of room to work on it.

Mine didn't show the problem until about 346k miles. I always used mobil 1 oil and filter.

Major improvement I found was using the mobil1 filter. Was using a delco it always had a lot of valve train clatter even when only sitting a few hours. Switched and it can sit days and still start up nice and quite.

Well she fired right up within 2 seconds of first crank. Runs like a new truck again. We are still debating about sending the core back or just selling it.
Damn thing almost took every minute of the 20 hour book time. Seemed suprising because everything came out and went back together pretty easy. Well after we figured out the engine has to go in/out sideways. LOL
