  • Clearance Fluids At Autozone

If you are looking to save a few bucks for your beater/bar car/budget race car, Autozone is selling off their "non-selling" fluids.

My store had these and the manager said most area stores will be unloading what they have in stock.

Castro Type F automatic trans fluid, $1/qt.

Mobile Super Motor Oil, all flavors, $3/qt.

Autozone full synthetic 10w-30, $15/5qt jug.

Autozone 20w-50 regular oil, $10/5qt jug.

Did some other make start using type F at some point the reason there is still so much selection? I mean when were the last Ford's requiring type F? Who else uses it?

I think Ford used it nearly exclusively in the 60's and 70's. C6 autos used it through the 80's. But if the trans was ever rebuilt, it was most likely rebuilt with parts requiring Dexron.

It does make a good power steering fluid replacement and I'm looking into using it in T-5's.

Plus it's a steal for the guys making their own penetrating oil and cutting fluid.

I used type F in my GM transmissions in my Pontiac (a TH-350 and later a TH-400). It apparently doesn't have the conditioners in it that Dexron has so the clutches grab harder. I never had any trouble with running it.

I can't remember where I got that tip from originally; it was a long time ago. Maybe from a B&M shift kit or a magazine article.

I don't think I'd try running it in a newer transmission.

Went to autozones in Plano and none of them had clearance oils. They had Mobil super for $2.99 a quart though
