  • Friendly reminder to my Plex users.

Evening yall, I forgot to mention for those who use my Plex, por favor for the best experience on your end and the least amount of work on mine(cpu load due to transcoding the quality), set the bandwidth usage of your client(app, browser, roku...) to the highest available.

Doin so will enable the best quality video for you and the least chance of stuttering video due to my pc not being able to keep up with transcoding the stream. It's a powerful rig(i7 3770k@4.2ghz), but it does have its limits. Peep the attached picture for the load induced from 5 concurrent streams.

I only mention it because I've had a couple ppl tell me that it's started stuttering, and that's due to not being able to keep up with the demand.

Please don't take this as complaining, I just want everyone to have the best experience possible. 😉

I've got a race car to build, and only money for one. Which would you like to finance?

16gigs ram and 7tb of hdd's. I had to move the Plex db to one of them because it was consuming to much space on the OS ssd. I have it set to generate media index for the roku users so when they ff or rw, it shows thumbnails. Is it needed, no, but it's nice to see.

With the exception of 2 of the 2tb drives that are enterprise hgst's, it's all consumer stuff.
