  • When is a Ford part NOT a Ford part?

I ordered a new clutch cable through Jegs. I was certain it said it was Ford and not an aftermarket as I have had issues with non OEM cables in the past.

I just got it and the box has a Ford Racing tag on the box with the part number indicating it should be genuine Ford.

However, looking at it, there are no part numbers on the cable anywhere. All I find is "Made in Taiwan" on the sheath. WTF?

    Does this sound right?

Man, ford shut down their cable making plant a few years back.

Ford pays other companies to produce their products. They meet or exceed Ford's specifications or they wouldn't be able to use the logo. That's not to say they don't certify vendors that then turn to crap but Ford is pretty good at protecting their name.

Upgrade to a hydraulic clutch, or swap to an AOD, problem solved!

I'd send it back and get the Maximum Motorsports cable.
I just put one in my CMC car after my junk aftermarket one failed, the new one is like butter.

I've seen a bunch of Motorcraft stuff with Made in China on the box. What got me looking for it was the made in china right under the ford part number on the O2 sensors for the mustang.

I will never put my left knee through the pains of a cable clutch again.

The cable conversion on my 69 is really nice and smooth.

I'm just remembering being traffic with my stock clutches on my 94gt, and 04 gt, and then the king cobra on my 96 cobra.

When I finally got an 06 gt, I thought I was in heaven.

Buddy of mine picked up a lightly modded 03 Cobra. Had stock quadrant and a centerforce clutch in it. The pedal feel was horrid so he started with a quadrant and cable form Maximum Motorsports and it felt a little better. He killed the clutch and stock flywheel shortly after. I swapped in a McLeod twin disc and Spec Aluminum flywheel. Pedal feel is amazing. I did the initial test drive and told him not to blow through the floorboard the first time he hit the clutch. He asked me if there was something wrong when he felt it because it was such a light feel. Well worth the money in his situation in my opinion.

Not really relevant but OEM Ford Powerstoke radiators are still shit btw. My 6.7 just started leaking this week.
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

IIRC, Jeff had like 2-3 stock ford cables fail and stretch badly before he got the twin disk clutch.

                              Might not be the cable.
