The problem with Fox's is that we are in more of a hurry now than the last time around, and to get the right car, in the condition we would want, and for the budget will probably take some time. Unless we just get lucky. Still bummed that we got beat to the punch on the green one Whiteboy had. That really would have been perfect.

That first car DJ posted, the Greenish hatch is decent. Get rid of the dumbass shifter and put a stock hood on it and go. Don't forget that the New Edge cars are getting old. They are a lot more expensive to fix when they break than a foxbody. Do not rush. Tell the insurance company you're going to need at least another week with the rental to find a car. Strong arm them if you need to, the car is in your possession anyway.

Besides, I'm tired of driving the rental and want my Suburban back. lol
Another disadvantage of a fox is that there is a lot more resto-work needed, and the likelihood of breakdown is higher. I do not want to spend my weekends working on his car, if it can be avoided. And any sub $5k fox is likely to necessitate that.
Besides, I think you might be a bit biased on New Edges based on your experience with your last vert.
Hell, I would have taken anything that starts and runs when I was his age. I got dick from my parents, and did not get my first car until 18, and only after 4 months in Basic Training and AIT. I do want him to be better off than I was, but within reason. We're no train engineers or anything.

He can choose and build any car he wants when he's on his own. As it is, top priority is that he gets to and from school, and to and from work.

How would I be biased when I've owned multiple vehicles from both platforms? New Edges had a lot more stuff that could-and would break than a fox. Be prepared at this date to replace the intake and probably all of the coil on plugs at the very least, not even to mention the suspensions will be completely worn out if nothing has been replaced, whereas a fox will likely have had some resto already done on it. Any 5k NE is going to likely need just as much work, but more expensive work, than a 5k fox, providing both cars don't need anything major such as paint work.
