I have a cheap ball with fingertip grips. I've used it a long time and have it dialed in on what I should be doing. I just mess up a frame or two on every game.
I have seen a couple of guys have success with that two handed method. Weirdest method I ever saw was a guy that tongued his ball before inserting his thumb.
Yeah, they still have that bullshit. Athens is $3 a game and a longer drive, but the lanes a pretty nice.

I just flat out can't hook the ball with one hand. I either end up with the ball spinning like a top, or straight forward revs. Two handed felt awkward at first, but I acclimated quickly and started having great success.

Are you rotating your wrist over the top of the ball when releasing? If your rotating your wrist it will spin like a top and go all over the place. I'm not an expert and I'm sure someone can clarify what I'm saying more technically.

I think my grip is what's hurting me. I always seem to have one or two bad strike balls do to my grip.

Yep, I wind up rotating the wrist and it spins like a top. I've studied several types of release and the one that I had the most luck with was where you unload the ball like you're dropping a yo-yo. That worked on dry lanes, but any type of oil and it was crap. Then I played with the speed, I tried at 12-15-20 mph, but never got anything consistent.

All of the fiddling with the release had me lucky to crack 100. Two handed was the first time I felt like I was in control and getting consistent results. Going to keep at it and see if I can get back up near 200.

On saturday night, they will have a waiting list of people because colorama takes up 8 lanes. 6 for them and two dead lanes for buffer/backup. That turns the place into a 14 lane alley and makes for a LONG wait, plus they upped the price to $2.50 a game. I go to athens now.
Hmm I never go on Saturday nights as I know any place will be packed with people and I don't like crowded places. We usually go early Sunday. It's still $1 and no one is there. Plus the lanes are on the dry side which I prefer since I don't have a lot of natural hook.

Athens is usually pretty quiet on saturday night. Last night was fairly packed, but there were several open lanes.

I will pass on the info about no crowds and still being cheap to the rest of my bowling group though.

What time are they open on sundays? I got there at 7 tonight and they were closed. Had to go down 85 to ennis.

11-8 or 9 on Sunday's but they might have closed early because of the Super Bowl today.

Never seen a business close for the super bowl. Weird. Guess I can understand though, ennis was dead.

I have 26 or 27 bowling balls. Seriously. They're addictive.

You get to say "I told you so". I was going to get a heavier ball, but the one I got was already ordered, so I wound up with a 12lbs Pyramid Path Rising. I drilled it to be an early roll, max hook. Boy was that a fuck up with my new two handed style. On dry lanes, I can go from gutter to gutter and on heavier oil, I barely get enough energy through the pins to do anything.

Got to looking at balls and the DV8 Ruckus looks to be what I want, gets great length and hooks like all hell on the back end. Wanted 15lbs, but scored a killer deal on amazon for a 16lbs ball. Will see how it goes once I get it and play with it.

The encouraging thing is that I shot a 178, 158, 135 on medium oil with the path rising. The 178 could have been a 200 game if not for stupid mental errors, and the 135 was with four splits off pocket hits. Not bad considering that I have only bowled 20 games after completely tearing my game down and restarting from scratch.

I tried, no dice. Didn't matter in the long run. A pulled tendon wound up completely turning my game around.

And Don SVO was right. Got my DV8 ruckus 16lbs ball drilled today. Bowled 175 in the first game I used it. Compared to 15-20 games to bowl a 178 with the 12lbs pyramid.

Me too. Can't wait to get to some decent lanes and try it. I'm so close to a 200 game that I can taste it.

FYI. FUCK Shenanigans and their shitty ass bowling lanes. I literally never got above a 90 in 3 games. The oil pattern was specifically set for straight balls. My ball has a hook but jesus, it was hooking half way down the lane and going into the gutter at least 5 feet in front of the pins. I can't throw a house ball at all apparently. SO i just started throwing my ball with a huge counter spin to keep it straight.

                                Fucking pathetic.
