If you can't get the ball to turn on its axis fully before it enters the pocket it isn't releasing energy and isn't doing its job.

I like CGs kicked out and the pin drilled over my ring finger. It promotes a stronger, later flip on the rotational axis once the ball breaks after exiting the oil pattern. TheHead throws about 1-2mph faster than I do but he gets a few more revs: he drills his stacked (pin beside the ring finger and the CG under it) typically to make the ball turn over a bit faster and promotes less skid/snap for more control over the ball's reaction down lane.

Point being, I'd rather have a more controlled speed and a strong move into the pocket and drill my gear accordingly. A heavier ball will do that for you and will certainly improve your consistency.
I throw a straight ball because I can't get any hook with the one that I have. I don't have many splits, but I do leave the 7 and 10 pin a lot. I have fairly good control to go with the power, when I go to a heavier ball, I tend to lose both power and control. Thats on a house ball with standard drilling, so most of the time the spacing is too large for my grip.

I'd go to the pro shop and see if they have a 14# ball drilled close to your specs that you could try.

I still throw my 15lb tornado when I bowl. I may try out Terrell if its better than it used to be.

I didn't know that they would do that. I will give it a shot.

IMO, it is. I would try to go on a Thursday night when it's cheap, just to try it out.

If you tell them you want to buy a ball and have it drilled (and you do) you want to find out what weight works for you, they should be accommodating.

Ok yeah, great recommendation on Seven Points. Better lanes, better atmosphere, and way cheaper. Fuck terrell.

Man, I had to look up where seven points is. That's a long drive for bowling.

They got an 1/8th mile track out there too.

Yeah, for you it would be, but the price difference would make up for it. $1 a game bowling is hard to beat. Terrell or AMF off Northwest highway would be way closer. Me and wishforsvts are both in the kaufman area, so it's about the same distance between terrell and seven points.

Yep. I hear that there is a hell of a dip at the end of the right lane, so you have to be careful.

Got a chance to try Terrell tonight. Still a run down facility but the lanes were decent and no smoking was good. Played four games and bowled 159, 165, 180 and 190. I haven't Bowles in well over a year and felt ok with that. I don't even remember what my league average was.

They still $4+ a game at terrell? I quit seven points, I've had it with them. On saturday night, they will have a waiting list of people because colorama takes up 8 lanes. 6 for them and two dead lanes for buffer/backup. That turns the place into a 14 lane alley and makes for a LONG wait, plus they upped the price to $2.50 a game. I go to athens now.

My game has been declining big time since switching to fingertip grip and a reactive ball. I couldn't get any hook with the ball and bowling straight yielded crappy results.

Pulled a tendon in my hand tonight, so I said fuck it and went to a two handed, Jason Belmonte style of bowling. I won't go back to one handed. I can hook the piss out of the ball with a two handed style. Only played one game and it took me about 5 frames to get dialed in, but by the end I was hammering strikes.

It's 4.75 after 530 or some shit. I don't even think all the lanes were being used tonight. I showed up around 7 and was gone by 830. I was bowling alone so I bleed through my games pretty quick. I have a cheap ball with fingertip grips. I've used it a long time and have it dialed in on what I should be doing. I just mess up a frame or two on every game.
I have seen a couple of guys have success with that two handed method. Weirdest method I ever saw was a guy that tongued his ball before inserting his thumb.
