Again, you have to be able to decipher unreal expectations. Knives rusting? Don't put them in the dishwasher. Broken tip? Stop dropping/throwing them, and blaming the manufacturer for a defect that doesn't exist.

A quick Google search would have easily explained had they done so prior to purchasing. Gourmet series also uses a lesser quality steel than say an Ikon series, which exacerbates rusting when used with dishwashing chemicals. Another common misconception here, is that stainless steel can't/won't rust. It's not rustless steel, it's called stainless steel. It absolutely can rust, and it will rust if not cared for properly.

I can see through the bullshit because I represented Wusthof on the commercial side for 5 years. I realize not everyone has that ability, but I fail to see how someone making an uninformed purchase is anyone's fault but their own. Every one of the reviews you posted, were written by idiots, imho.

As others have said, you also have to pay attention to who the seller is on Amazon. If you see a set of knives for $250 that are normally $1000, they're probably fakes. Check the seller. As with anything, buyer beware.
I don't let the wife put our knives in the dishwasher b/c I don't want to damage the handles, as I've seen happen in the past. Didn't know it could lead to rusting as well.

If you aren't price matching stuff you see int he store with Amazon, then you are wasting money hand over fist.

If i see something cool, I'll scan the UPC and see what it is on Amazon. Normally its about 10-15 bucks less and its on Prime - so free shipping. Not everything is cheaper tho, and sometimes having it now is worth passing on the lower price.

I found out recently that many brick and mortar stores will match amazon's online price. Staples had a component I needed listed for less than half price on their website, and they thought I mean amazon when I asked them about it. The store manager was really cool about it, and told me that most stores will price match amazon for the same thing.

I was looking for a specialty tool recently and found a seller on Amazon. I went directly to the seller's site since it was cheaper there. I bought a used book on Amazon a while back that I could not find elsewhere. Afterward, I found it from a motorsports book seller NEW for much cheaper. I think as Amazon becomes people's go-to, they will raise prices since lazy gonna laze and just get it without further shopping.

I have been wondering when they will raise the prices. They are hard to beat on most things. I am willing to spend a bit more over some other online vendors considering they are easy to deal with on returns and you know it is going to ship fast.

Why not just purchase it on Amazon for the same price? It'll get here faster if you have prime and they are awesome when it comes to customer service.

I hardly buy online but if I happen to, it has been from Amazon though.

I've bought a surround sound system, a Weber grill, hundreds of books, hundreds of movies, rare movie posters, house hardware(curtain rods, door latches, shower heads, etc), tools, furniture, clothes, sex toys, and probably a bunch of other random shit I've forgotten about.

Amazon prime is the shit most of the time it gets here overnight. For small things i upgrade to overnight anyway. Usually a buck or two.

I've spent a fair amount on amazon with no complaints. Most of my purchases come from there. And like everyone else I use it as a comparison tool. If I'm in a store and the price is within a few bucks I'll just buy at the store though.

Im all about the Amazon action. I buy most of my stuff there as well. Honestly dont spend much time in stores outside the grocery store. I hate crowded public places. Most of the time its much cheaper online.

As for the knives...like Brent said, Shun is the way to go. I dropped $200 on two chefs knives and I love them. They are so sharp its kinda scary and I have cut myself a couple times pretty good. Handwash only. Im a believer in not buying a block of knives. I use the chefs knives for just about everything including slicing bread and cheese.

I bought a couple of smathers & branson belts (needle point belts, [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Smathers-Branson-Collegiate-Needlepoint-Belt/dp/B00C8EKXSU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1416422642&sr=8-3&keywords=smathers+%26+branson+TCU"]one TCU[/ame] for my mother inlaw, one with [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Smathers-Branson-Fishing-Flies-Needlepoint/dp/B00KM632FM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1416422658&sr=8-3&keywords=smathers+%26+branson+flies"]dry flies[/ame] on it for myself , a [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IAPL15K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Schwinn bike[/ame] for the wife, some towels to monogram for the wife & kids, some other things for the kids.

I was shocked with the fake allegations on the fragrances & the general cheap quality alleged on the block knives. Shook my faith for a bit. We aaiiiight.

I buy cheap car parts on amazon. Converted my entire interior lighting to LEDs for less than $20 on 3 of my cars. It is great to get reviews on a product where as eBay only has feedback on a seller.

Going through an amazon A-Z claim right now where a seller listed headlights and fog lights for $86 shipped. They only sent me the headlights and refused to honor my order and instead offered to sell me the fog lights at full price. Amazon is giving them 7 days to fulfill my order or send a refund, and from the run around I got from the sellers customer service I will be getting my $86 back and keeping my free set of headlights.
