I hardly buy online but if I happen to, it has been from Amazon though.

Not everything, but they do sell junk here and there. I've had to return a pair of camber bolts that were toothpicks compared to the original bolts and also a baby mirror that attach to the stock rear view mirror (wasn't a mirror, it was a shiny plastic reflector that worked poorly).
Luckily Amazon is super easy to return items and they pay for return shipping. I still buy plenty of stuff through them because my wife gets Amazon Prime for $50/year and for that price we can't beat the 2 day shipping, streaming, music, and cloud storage.

Blades don't just chip off. They dropped it, landed on the tip, and broke. Again, user error not manufacturing defect. In the Gourmet line only larger knives (over 4-5") are full tang, which explains the balance and "blade not running all the way through the handle". All of this could have been found out pre purchase had they done a little research.
Go with the Wusthof Ikon Classics or Shun. Go look at them in person somewhere first, to see which fits your hands best.

Now, if these are $1000 knives being sold for $225, you're a fool to think it's not cheap Chinese crap, but if this is the first place you're seeing these knives, and you've never seen their retail $$ in brick and mortar, you could easily think that $250 for a set of knives was a reasonable rate, relatively.

$250 for a full set of knives is chump change, and will buy you shit.
Again, you have to be able to decipher unreal expectations. Knives rusting? Don't put them in the dishwasher. Broken tip? Stop dropping/throwing them, and blaming the manufacturer for a defect that doesn't exist.
A quick Google search would have easily explained had they done so prior to purchasing. Gourmet series also uses a lesser quality steel than say an Ikon series, which exacerbates rusting when used with dishwashing chemicals. Another common misconception here, is that stainless steel can't/won't rust. It's not rustless steel, it's called stainless steel. It absolutely can rust, and it will rust if not cared for properly.
I can see through the bullshit because I represented Wusthof on the commercial side for 5 years. I realize not everyone has that ability, but I fail to see how someone making an uninformed purchase is anyone's fault but their own. Every one of the reviews you posted, were written by idiots, imho.
As others have said, you also have to pay attention to who the seller is on Amazon. If you see a set of knives for $250 that are normally $1000, they're probably fakes. Check the seller. As with anything, buyer beware.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.
