Seizing property is actually really difficult to do. It requires a court process and a judge to decide based on the reasons for the seizure. Dont think a cop can just come and take your TV as a seizure. This FTP movement needs to get educated and chill out
State seizure laws allow for the seizure of property used in or that are a product to a felony offense. So a guy transporting 50 pounds of dope up from the border gets stopped and arrested. The vehicle was clearly used as a part of the felony offense so its subject to be seized. It was probably paid for by the criminal activity. Why is that a bad thing?
I bet half the fuckers on here still have big ass rear projection box TV's anyway so dont worry about. Dont break the law and no one will take your box TV

No one in this thread is saying dope runners/dealers should be able to keep their stuff if they're caught doing that, it's the people THAT AREN'T CHARGED WITH A CRIME and their shit is being taken is where the problem is, and the trivial little crimes like picking up hookers, and the $40 worth of dope someone's kid had. Take the cops cocks out your mouth for a second and you might be able to see the problem.

You're putting an awful lot of effort into being willfully ignorant and cherry picking information. Of course, you're one of the cops on here that constantly reinforces stereotypes, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. You, hustleman, and jewozzy are doing a wonderful job taking up Matt's slack since he left. You guys wonder why the public doesn't trust your sorry asses when you can't even read something that is logically critical of your profession without coming up with some dumbshit response defending it that doesn't have anything to do with what is posted.

No it's not, but the police were frothing at the mouth to steal someone's Mercedes because of a dwi. Should you lose your car because you pick up a hooker and get caught? No you shouldn't. Should you lose your house because your dumb ass kid had a whopping $40 worth of dope? No you shouldn't.
2) "user" dope is not going to get your car or your house seized.
3) felony DWI - I'm kinda torn on this one. You're that effing stupid to get a third or more DWI you probably need your car taken and sold.
As it relates to the Dallas DA. He was (is) an idiot. he appears to have mi-used those funds. the DA's office gets a "cut" of all seizures filed in the county by the PD. So they get part from DPD,Garland,DART,Etc... That's where their money came from.

Jesus Fucking Christ, do you ever actually read a thread before posting in it?

IMO, the only time seizure should come into play is if they can prove that the items being seized / forfeited were obtained through nefarious means (or with the proceeds of nefarious deeds). And only after reviewed / approved by a judge.
