  • Robert Plant Rips Up $800 Million Led Zeppelin Reunion Contract

    No amount of money

can get Robert Plant to reunite with his Led Zeppelin bandmates.

The 66-year-old singer walked away from a 35-date tour that would have paid the rock group nearly $800 million — ripping up the contract in front of stunned promoters, the Mirror newspaper reported Sunday.

British tycoon Sir Richard Branson had planned to reunite the Stairway to Heaven rockers and promoters had even gotten the green light from the other band members.

The mega deal would have paid Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones roughly $300 million apiece, before taxes, according to The Mirror.

Group members lobbied hard for Plant to join in but he wouldn’t change his mind.

“They have tried to talk him round but there is no chance,” a source close to the group told the Mirror. “His mind is made up and that’s that.”

Zeppelin is my favorite group and I'd love to see them before they (the rest of them) die.

That said, Robert Plant's old man voice is crap and it ruins all those great songs.

They should see if Tortelvis is available. He was great with Dread Zeppelin.

Same here...always been one of my favorites, and I agree too....Plant's voice ruins most of those songs these days.

....And now that I know all of the creepy molestation shit about Page...I'd rather remember them from back then.

I have a feeling that his aging voice is the main reason he is so adamantly against it, it could turn out to be downright embarrassing for him if he can't perform up to snuff.

My guess is that he's pretty set financially, so the $300MM to him at 66 is simply more for his estate and/or heirs to fight over.
