I am local, I've just always been sensitive to cold weather. I guess I need to look into upgrading my base layers. I cheaped out and bought wal mart stuff last year to see if it helped my situation. I will take a look at Nike and UA. It sucks that I have such a hard time finding outer wear that fits properly.

My daily khaki's are Wrangler Riata. Can anyone recommend something with a little heavier material?

a good jacket that keeps the wind out is critical. i have a columbia softshell jacket, and even into the 30s and 20s, i will get too warm if i'm moving around.

Only thing that I have found that can keep me warm is a pair of thick coveralls. Before I got those, I was getting ready to start wearing my damned 3mm wetsuit under my clothes.

If you can pull off a neck gator or scarf and a beanie you will notice your body temp increase also.

Neck, shoulders, top of your head and ears, top of your hands, your wrist undersides and the tops of your feet.

Blood closest to the surface cools faster and thus travels through the rest of your body "cooling" along the way.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Go to Bass Pro and check out the 100MPH winterwear. I believe it is made by goretec, they offer paints, jackets and gloves. That stuff is amazing, although a little pricey they do run it on sale sometimes.

I need to pick something up for my neck, if I know I won't have any meetings, I can typically get away with a beanie.

I've got a Dr. Appointment in Rockwall on Tuesday morning. I will stop by Bass Pro and see what they've got. Thanks for the tip.

It's going to come down to tolerable vs fucking miserably cold.

I spend most of my time at work on the front end, which is right next to front door that's always opening every 10 seconds. So my department is cold as fuck!
I dress full under armor. Thermal longjohns. Black dress pants and UA thermal t-shirt. Black work polo. And Black UA jacket. Black UA beanie. UA socks. And slip resistant shoes. And my 9mm at my 5 o'clock tucked in

I'm native Texan and hate the cold until I'm acclimated. Sounds like I'm not alone, or nearly as big a wuss as I thought!

It's the wind or chill factor that gets me. Like Yale said, layers. I use more on my lower half and it makes the rest easy.

Nice knee high thick socks, thermals and occasionally even wool pajama like pants under my jeans/dickies. I'll even buy my jeans a size larger in order to layer up.

On top I don't like thermals, I'll just wear a thin long sleeve under my nice shirt, then a hoodie (if I plan to be outside more), then fleece pull over with lots of neck protection. Top it off with a large, long warm coat with both zipper and flap to cover.

I'll add/subtract layers throughout the day depending on exposure. I will say knee-down and neck-up is the most important areas for me. I also like to ride a motorcycle year round and that will acclimate you very quickly!

No love for some carhartt jackets? If you can, coveralls would be a great solution. Not sure if that would be "appropriate" work attire for you or not.
