  • Skinny people and cold weather

I am starting my second cold weather season at my new job. I am in and out of houses all day, and I fi d it difficult to stay warm. Being 5'8" and 130lbs It is difficult to find outerwear that fits properly. I have an issue with an air gap between me and the jacket/coat. Last year I attempted the base layer concept. Base layer, work attire, 2 pairs of socks, jacket, vest, and coat. Still froze my ass off. I am the guy with a hoodie or jacket the instant temps drop below 70 degrees.

Anyone else with this problem? Have you found jackets/coats that fit a smaller frame without the air gap? My standard work attire is khakis, and a collared shirt. Any help would be great.

Layers, dude. Get some thermal long underwear, a fleece pullover to cover your button down, etc. Layers can look professional, and keep you warm. The upside is, if you go somewhere warm, you can take the fleece pullover, and still look professional.

Under Armour plus a heated coat should do the trick for you.

go to a sporting goods store and look at the new tech long johns like the ones under armor and nike are making. get the ones that have some compression so if its really cold then you can wear some more traditional long johns and still fit into traditional slacks or jeans.

They also make moisture wicking socks that are real good at keeping your feet warm. Of course a good pair of boots help to keep the water away as well

You are buying the wrong baselayers if you cant stay warm in texas imho

My favorite thermals right now i get at alco haha. Make sure you are getting the ones rated for your activity level. I wear UnderArmour stuff hunting while its good for sitting the walk in can get sweaty quick.

The more you sweat the colder you will get. To keep your feet warm dont double up socks. Get a good pair so air can get around them. Insulated boots help. I use 2000 gram here.

                  good wool, good socks.

I'm a sissy about cold, but it gets way colder where I live now. I purchased a dewalt 20v heated jacket this year. I'll get to use it Wednesday of this week, I'll let you know how I feel. I bought some wool outerwear after last winter kicked my ass.

I use to have same problem when I worked out doors being pretty small myself most stuff doesn't fit great. Layers where the best solution I found, when it was really cold I would wear Nike's compression stuff for my first layer. Worked really well for me.

Get some coveralls from walls. They're killer. I go naked in mine because they're soft and I like to party.

Layers, and tuck everything in is what I do, kind of the create a seal and limit the amount of cold air getting in.

I tuck my first layer of long johns into my socks, the top into the bottoms, and then layer up from there. Normally I have a second set of more traditional long johns in the second layer and build up from there.

The main trick is to layer without looking bulky or limiting movement. Which is a bitch depending on your outerwear.

I've got some under armor cold weather gear and it's more than acceptable as long as there's something over it. A tshirt is more than enough.
