Winning in DC is going to be huge. It's going to be tough for any politician to argue against legalization when the capital of the country legalizes it. Of course, I'm sure that won't stop some of them. I think Texas will at least have medical by 2020. Ten years from now this country is going to look a lot different.

I agree. Then again, not many politicians have been accused of being intellectually (or otherwise) honest.

I never thought I'd see it in my lifetime. I am all for de-criminalization, but I'm still not sure how I feel about full legalization.

Meanwhile, medicinal use failed in Florida.

it won't be "fully legalized", so no need to worry

still baffling to me that alcohol and tobacco are legal, but people are concerned that legalizing the devil weed is going to have a negative impact on anything

That isn't cut and dry though. They got a majority vote, but needed 60% for it to actually pass, for whatever convoluted reason.

I haven't done a lick of research on it, but it may have been the way it was presented? I'm pretty sure CA, CO, WA, etc all put it through as a bill. In Florida, it was put up as an Amendment.

That's possibly it; the article I read didn't offer up an explanation after throwing the 60% figure out there.

That's why I don't support full legalization; it will be treated like alcohol, and it is far less dangerous.

De-criminalizing possession is good. Selling it like a six pack, regulating and commercializing, and trying to develop ways to measure intoxication: bad.

As soon as I hear someone arguing against it because we haven't developed a test/limit for DUI, I cringe.

Yet that is a major contributing reason as to why it isn't already legal across the US. That, and the dinosaurs that were around for Reefer Madness.
