PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Portland police say a Washington murder suspect led them on a high-speed chase across the Ross Island Bridge on Wednesday morning, then later swerved into oncoming traffic as police terminated the pursuit.

David Kalac is a suspect in a homicide in Kitsap County. Deputies there said a 13-year-old boy found his mother's body in their home at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in unincorporated Port Orchard.

The boy called his father, who then called 911.

Kalac was identified as the suspect and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Kitsap County deputies said there are no other known suspects.

Portland officers spotted his gold 2001 Ford Focus at Southeast Ninth Avenue and Powell Boulevard at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. They tried to make a traffic stop, but police said the driver sped away, crossed the Willamette River via the Ross Island Bridge and started driving south on Barbur Boulevard.

At about 30th Avenue, police gave up on the chase. The car was last seen heading south on Barbur and passing Taylors Ferry Road.

Kalac, 33, is described as white, 6'2" tall and 220 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has an active warrant out for his arrest and police believe he's armed and dangerous.

The Ford Focus has Washington license plates 495 YLY. Anyone seeing Kalac is asked to call 911.

Investigators said they don't have any information about why Kalac would be in Portland. No other sightings of Kalac or his car have been reported to police.

Detectives focus on graphic online photos

Authorities in Washington state investigating the Kitsap County homicide are focusing on graphic online photos that appear to show a slain woman.

Kitsap County sheriff's Deputy Scott Wilson says he saw the disturbing photos on the websites 4chan and imgur and read an accompanying statement, apparently from the killer.

The person who posted the photos reportedly replied: "Check the news for Orchard, WA in a few hours. Her son will be home from school soon, and will find her and call the cops."

Wilson said Wednesday that the identity of the woman found by a relative Tuesday afternoon has yet to be confirmed. The office can't confirm the online postings but is taking them seriously.

Suspect in Kitsap Co. woman's killing captured in Oregon

SEATTLE -- A man suspected of killing a Port Orchard woman and posting grisly photos of her battered body online was arrested Wednesday night in Oregon.

Portland police say David Michael Kalac, 33, was taken into custody just before 9 p.m. in Clackamas County, Oregon.

Clackamas County sheriff's deputies say Kalac turned himself in to police in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Kalac was charged earlier Wednesday with second-degree murder in the death of Amber Lynn Coplin. Police believe Kalac also stole Coplin's car, which was found abandoned Wednesday in Portland.

Portland police briefly chased the car early Wednesday.

Kalac has a criminal history in Washington state and Virginia that includes convictions for assault, burglary and DUI, Wilson said.

Deputies have confirmed that gruesome photos posted on a website are of the victim and the Port Orchard, Washington, crime scene, Wilson said.

"He's our primary suspect," Kitsap County sheriff's Deputy Scott Wilson said Wednesday. "It stands to reason that in all likelihood he is the person who posted those photographs."

Coplin's body was found Tuesday in her Port Orchard apartment by her 13-year-old son, Wilson said.
