  • Carb shop around?

Looking for a shop that actually sells a selection of carburetors (minus oreillys which only have edelbrock 1406's). Looking for a small block type carb for this 283. 4 barrel. Thinking an edelbrock 500cfm would fit the bill. But not against 600cfm holley's or 'brock's.
    Thanks

Pepboys? Hadn't been to one in forever. Ok I'll see where the closest one is in reference to Highland Village.

It has to be one that has the Speed Shop. They don't all do it.

He is a rip off. What he sells a carburetor for you can just about buy new. I would get the edelbrock 1404

Holy cow those are expensive for what they are! Isn't 390cfm too small?

This would be pretty much perfect.

Don't be cheap! You can get a cheap carb, or you can get the right carb. Rarely both. 390 cfm will be plenty, unless you plan on spinning it to 9000rpm regularly.

If you're keeping the car, use the 390 CFM. If you're not keeping it, leave the carb alone.

Jegs sells rebuilt Eddy carbs too. I picked up a 500 cfm a few months ago for under $200 using one of their discount codes.

Fitzwell knows his stuff. I'd take that advice. Most modified carb'd cars are running too much cfm. More is not better if the engine isn't built to handle it.
