  • Federal Jury Duty Summons

Anyone else received or served on a Federal Jury?

Their timing couldn't be any worse. I wouldn't mind serving on a jury; done it before. But I need to be job hunting next week and nothing like having a 2 week on call jury summons hanging over me.

I have to call in on Friday November 14th after 3p for reporting instructions and have to continue to call on each Monday and Friday until November 28th. Or worse, I get picked and it goes longer.

Looking at the juror number it isn't like I am in the 3 or 4 digits. Nope. Under 100.

I fully expect the crazy replies about how to get out of it but has anyone else been through a Federal summons like this?
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I have, wasn't too bad. For folks that have to report hundred of miles away some day it sucks.

Yup, I got picked to serve in Grayson county Fed jury. They are real picky about who serves, so just go and more than likely you will be sent home. On the plus side, if you are picked they pay decent, well better than your local jury does...

My grandfather did years ago. Apparently they force you to wear a suit and tie and if you don't they hold you in contempt of court. If you don't own a suit supposedly they force you to buy one or hold you in contempt, though I don't understand how that is legal. That is all the experience I have with it; I don't own a suit and would not buy one for the feds so I guess I would be in jail for it? I really don't know.

I know you have to dress appropriately (semi-formal), but I just wore a nice tie and button up shirt and slacks, I left the jacket in the car in case they said something but they didn't...

No dress code unless you're picked, then the court can stipulate but nowadays it's usually business casual.

That makes a lot more sense.

My wife got out of a federal jury duty by being self employed. It was a pain to figure out the form to try and get excused though.
