While in the service we had a couple of Mig 29's at the German base I was stationed at. I could have sworn they went to the local scrap yard to build those planes. No piece of aluminum was the same pattern.

I watched a documentary on the building of the Mig 25, and the Russians are lucky they figured how to work with aluminum well enough to build the 29.

That MI-24 up close looked like it was made out of raw steel in a barn by elves with hammers and chisels. The crew was cool, they are out of Las Vegas.

My son saw it one day when we were over in plano by the tollway and bush coming out of the hobby shop.
"He said look dad a Hind!"

Sure enough that's exactly what it was. It looks like it landed some where on the west side of the highway but I didn't have any luck finding it when we drove over to look.

No worries. I marked the one I put out in the open as a trial.

I remember hearing the story about that Hind. It was completely disassembled and shipped to the states where a lone mechanic and the owner meticulously re-assembled it. Not many around these parts, it's definitely unique.

I saw this one out at DFW airport at a private air show a couple of months ago, just a few aircraft mostly WWII birds with a C130 and and an Apache. Not sure if it's the same one.
