          “precipice”? There's NO WAY that's a word!

Bummer about the kiddo man, but at least you can begin the next chapter now. Trading up is always a bonus, I'm effed if mine ever leaves, hopefully I can keep the crazy in her at bay.

That sucks about the ex lying and getting custody but at least you traded up in the deal, and one day the custody thing won't matter because your son will be old enough to make his own decisions. Like others have said be the better person and don't badmouth your ex in front of anyone, ever, and be sure to spoil your son every chance you get. Flaunting the #9 as much as you can in front of the ex helps too. Your son will remember who took the high road in all of this so set the good example for him.

I just went through this myself but we avoided the lawyers and are still friends. Our kids are grown so there was no custody fight. I let her choose what car she wanted and I told her to take whatever she wanted out of our stuff. I split my IRA with her as the law requires and I sent her on her way to find whatever she is looking for, which apparently ain't me any longer.

Life after divorce is actually pretty nice so I think I got the better end of that deal

Solid advice from mike. What age can they decide whom they'd like to live with in Texas?

Hey Sean - I'm in Simi Valley now which is about 40 miles northwest of L.A. It's an old bedroom community that reminds me a lot of the older parts of McKinney, except with mountains.
