  • Anyone own a 2014 GMC Sierra ?

Does anyone here own a 2014 GMC Sierra ?

After seeing them at the State Fair, I'm realllllllllllllly wanting a new truck but holy crap, they're expensive.

I think I'm going to try to find one used with low miles on it but I may see if I can find a car rental company that rents them out and drive one for the weekend or something.

Anyone that owns one, have you had any problems with it ?

What kind of real-world fuel mileage do they get ? I've seen them advertised at 23mpg on the highway, but do they really get that ? Would one benefit from having a custom tune done on it ?

I've been kind of running through a rough patch in my life recently and a new truck would help pull me out. At least, that's my excuse for buying one. Ha

Mechanically I believe it's the same truck before the redesign. 5.3 liter with the cylinder deactivation. Interiors are 110% better though and they have some cool new features like the step bumper if you like that, bed LED's, and of course the outside is different.

Yeah, I like that the cab is stretched on the crew cabs for more leg room in the back. I love the redesign on the body, but strangely enough, am not liking the '14 Chevy pickups at all.

Didn't you have one for a work truck or something ?

I had a 2011 5.3 extended cab for my company vehicle, and I liked it enough when I switched companies I bought a 2013 HD Duramax 4 door. I loved them both, however living in a very old city with very tight areas to drive and park it wasn't practical. Plus having a kid, it wasn't easy to haul her around with the way it drove and it's a pain in the ass to get in and out of with. The rear space was tiny though, even compared to the F150 half ton.

Okay, that's right. When you say "rear space" are you referring to the rear passenger area ? The '14 redesign on the GMC and Chevies got a few more inches of cab space in the rear passenger area.

How old is your kiddo ?

Do you know if the '13's had direct injection or was that a first for the '14's ? I think they're up to something like 355 hp.

Yeah rear space I mean cargo area. So I guess they have addressed that, which is good. The previous body style was so dated, but it worked. It was a trucks truck. My kid is 10 mo's. I don't believe they had direct inject, but I could be wrong.

Which engine and body style is yours ? Crew cab, double cab or regular ? What kind of mileage do you see so far ?

Ha, smart asses ! Who tuned your truck ? Any idea what kind of power it makes ? I'm wondering if tuning the direct injection is a lot different than the previous trucks ? And I'm assuming it would void the warranty ?

                    15 gmc Sierra cc, standard bed(6'6"). When i drive 65ish it get 23-24.... But 65 doesn't get you anywhere. At 80, I'm seeing 19.5.

The cab seems huge compared to my 08 sierra cc.

Yes it's huge compared to my 09 cc and 13 ext cab. I have a 2 year old so it makes a huge difference with the car seat.

I just did the flash paq, it's night and day over the stock settings I hated the way it shifted from the factory. It has no problem getting up and going.

Go drive one, they are nice trucks, I still need to put my leveling kit and cold air on it, but as it sits I like it

Man, I know what you mean. Sometimes I'm in an old man mood and don't mind driving 65, and sometimes my fucking patience is completely worn thin and I feel like I have to drive as absolutely fast as possible.

Are both of your trucks 2wd ?

Yeah, one of the big things I liked the most about the new trucks is the extra room. Is the flash paq covered under the factory warranty ? These new trucks have a 6 speed automatic, right ? What gear ratio is in the rear ?

2014 silverado extended cab 6.5 bed. 4x4 Z71 6.2L with 342s. I put a slightly larger all terrain on and i average 18ish mpg. Best tank of 22 mpg. Worst of 14 mpg. Have 5,600 miles with no problems at all. Heard lots of complaints from early buyers. I picked mine up end of July and it was built in July. Really love the new interior. Very quiet truck and super smooth riding. The motors are all new. Not called Vortec anymore, called Ecotec and are much stronger. The crew cabs have lots more room in them vs previous body. The extended cabs might be a touch tighter getting in and out of due to the pillar and standard door now vs a suicide door but the interior is slightly larger I think. All 14s have the 6 speed, even the 6.2. The 15 6.2s will get an 8 speed with 323 gears.
