He retired from the Army after more than a decade as an Lt? That doesn't add up. After 8.5 years he'd be processed out if he didn't make O-3. Someone is either lying or got demoted, that and retirement is at 20 unless he had some extenuating circumstances.

I guess he could have been prior enlisted but something still doesn't add up.

So, my guess is prior enlisted, then possibly medically retired.

Stars and Stripes says veteran, not retired. I know it's possible but not the norm. Of course when it comes to the Army there are always 100 different ways to do everything and 98% of them are wrong.
