Maybe there was a fattie sitting in that part of the plane and caused the rivets to pop out, much like trying to squeeze too fat of an ass into a pair of Walmart britches that are two sizes too small.

      Thats what I was thinking.
Structure of the plane is fine.

Do people also freak out when their door trim in their car has a push pin that comes lose?

I'd bet that's pressure issue unrelated to the actual fuselage. It may have had a rupture in one of the pressure bulkheads between the cargo and passenger areas.

I would have thought that'd happen on one of their MD-80s, not the newer 757's. I really hate those old, tired planes.

Well if the door trim on my car, which I know tons about, comes off I know I won't have a nice long fall back to the Earth.

But people that most likely know dick about an aircraft see this shit, I would assume all they could think about is, "Shit that's a long ways down."

If the door trim comes loose, can it result in your fiery death?

Just like the picture of the plane above, neither will cause that.

You'd probably have flipped out on the pilot, and told him how the constitution says it can't keep you in the plane.

I want to get this out there. I have an irrational fear of flying. I know it's more dangerous driving to a location than it is flying statistically speaking...but I hate heights.

In saying that...as weird as it is...it comforts me when I hear of planes having mechanical failures and still landing just fine with no massive casualties.

Apparently it was just an air duct that had broken loose.

hehe, I don't think there is a single person in here that would hear loud popping and panels breaking and sit comfortably flying a few hours to Dallas.
