My mods were around $2000.00 and I made 420hp and 510tq to the wheels, I'm sure you can get the same mods a little cheaper today and run 12's, that 5.0 ain't going to do that, you will have to spend around 10k worth of mods and that includes a blower on the 5.0. Not saying it can't be done, but if you threw the same amount at that 'L it makes closer to 600/600.
The '11-'14 f150 5.0 is superior in every way to the '99-'04 Lightning (except for torque numbers). Stock motor can handle 600 hp and so can the 6 speed trans (lightings 2v 5.4 are a ticking time bomb at 450, i'm not sure about the trans).
A full bolt on, tire, e-85 tune, 3.73 geared rcsb f150 can run high 12s. Quite impressive for no forced induction.

And you dont need $10k to make a coyote f150 run even better. Add a 150 shot to the mix and you have an 11 second truck. What's that, like $3-4K in mods (bolt-ons, tires, tune, nitrous)?

And now the '15 F-150 is more powerful and lighter.

93-95 Lightning bone stock with an S-Trim making 14#'s would destroy both those trucks. Just sayin.........well it may need an exhaust too.

And when you've beat them, you can park it back in your garage and fix what you broke to do it.

You won't break it. That 351 is tough as nails.

I messed with a loud ass lowered lightning on 820 in my tuned EcoBoost and pulled on him pretty good. So I would think a bolt on tremor would have no problem with a bolt on lightning.

Mine holds up with 18 and occasionally 20-22#'s without an issue in almost 2 years and 10,000 miles. I'll take those rusty nails anyday.

some people drive more than that in their truck 3 months, let along 2 years.

And I wasn't suggesting he push 20 pounds. If he's considering a 2004 then warranty isn't a deciding factor. Gen 1st are becoming more valuable and can handle 14#'s stock, run high 12's, get better mileage than a 2nd gen and the engine is far more durable. A Gen 1 with an exhaust and a well setup S-Trim will blow away a new Tremor, Ecoboost, or 5.0 F150. Just offering another option.

Why you trying to derail this with talk of lightweight cars that anyone with little to no mechanical skill can make go fast? I thought this was about trucks, quick trucks.

I had a 99L and I really dont think an EB, Termor or 5.0 would give it a run what so ever...even stock.

for real! if its a true 4080lb truck, it weighs less than the Dodge challenger and isnt but a diet away from the camaro/mustang...

                                What's a stock 99 run? I'm seeing mid 13's in the 1/4 on google.
