That is kinda crappy though. I have to go in and get gift cards THEN go pay for gas. What a pain. Plus, then if I have a balance left on the card, that's money that "stuck" until I go to that store again.

I guess they get a lot of gas thefts? What other reason to "pre-pay" for the cheaper gas?

You can always use the balance on gas later. Hell, HEB always runs a discount on gas, if you use a gift card. It's $0.12 off a gallon at mine right now.

I buy a few $300 fuel cards at a time. Then I don't have to go inside and stand in line every time I fill up.

I get the "oooh lawdy" stare from all the "I need a $20 fuel card" peasants every time I go in.

they have an 80 cent spread on diesel to get you to buy the fuel card. other stations in the area are 40 cents higher
