What kind of fuel milage do you get? I drive 90-95% highway.

I understand the V8 comments. But in reality, I don't need to tow a boat, haul a race car around, or anything like that. Maybe some 2x4's, sheets of plywood, and mulch from time to time, from the HD 2 miles away.

if that's the case, I'd just get a decent car to drive and buy a beater truck for running to HD

Well, headed to Rockwall now to look at a couple of civic's. Had this happened 2 months from now, I would be looking for a cash car. Either way, the smarter play is to get a commuter and drop the truck off with a mechanic to get checked out or fixed.

At 35-40 mpg, it cuts my fuel bill in half, thus paying a large part of the payment.

So I pulled a 180. Went and looked at a 2013 civic coupe last night. I had a 97 when I graduated high school and have missed since I totaled it about 10 years ago. With the amount of driving I do, the increased fuel mileage should cover about half of the payment. I picked it up for 2K under book before T's and fees. I wish it had been white or gray, but I like it none the less.

The wheels have been spinning since I left to pick up the car. I have always wanted a toy! LS T56 and find a way to cram a turbo in it...

Maybe on newer ones, but not on the older ones. I can move 4.3L silverados and 3.9L rams very easily. I-6 F150's might as well be a pile of cash. I won't touch the 4.2L F150's though, damned motors cost too much to repair.

I hear that, my 3.9L Dakota got 15-16 and my damned 5.9L ram got 13-14.

Yeah Shouldnt a v6 ranger get better mileage than a v8 f150? AFAIK they never have. Its always been worse.

Another thing is the tundras get worse mpg than the fords and chevys. Which just seems weird to me.

Guess you had a 4.0 with 4WD and drove the piss out it! My 2.5L/5 speed 2001 Ranger routinely gets 24 mpg in mixed driving, and can do 27 on the highway. And I hauled 2200 lbs in the bed many times.

Thats 4 mpg better on the hwy than my 2.2L s-10 got. 2.2L 5 spd with 3.73's I got as high as 26, but it wasn't consistent. May have been a little better than my 23 avg if I didn't drive 85 on the interstate 1/2 way to work.

Whats the new rig get. I miss the old white integra i had. Sucker would do 40mpg on hwy trips.

The new Chevy Colorado's should be hitting the lots soon. It gets 26MPG with the 305HP V6. They 4 banger and Diesels are coming next year and should do even better..

I haven't put enough miles on it yet to hand calculate. I filled up last night and have gone ~70 miles. I will fill up in the morning to start the work week fresh. The instant MPG stays right about 35. I am hoping for 35-40 mpg. My '97 civic coupe with the 5 spd got 34 all the time, no matter how I drove it. I am going to burn the first couple of tanks down the same way I drove the s10 just to compare. Then I am going to try and make myself set the cruise at 75 on the interstate and see what happens. I am hoping for 40, but staying optimistic that I will average 35. I need to figure out how to reset the long term MPG display in the morning.
