    Flu Shots

    Am I the only one that doesn't get flu shots? I've also never had the flu that I can remember.

    I usually am strongarmed into getting them for work since I work in a hospital. I have never had the flu and didnt have my first flu shot until I was 27

        going on 3 decades plus, and never had one.
        Company just sent out a flu shot email asking if people would be interested in having someone come to the building and administer them. People started acting like a great service was being done.

              I get them, but only because I interact daily with a bunch of nasty ass college kids, and the university subsidizes them, so it's easy enough.

                  I know it was probably just a coincidence but the only time I had a flu shot was the only time I got the flu, when I was in 9th grade.

                    I never got the flu afterwards, but all 3 times I got a flu shot (mid-20s) I felt like I was dragging around a mild URI for a week. After the 3rd time with this reaction I stopped getting them. I have also not had the flu since grade school.

                      These are the typical stories I hear, and people who I know that have gotten the shot usually feel like shit following the shot. Some of them even still catch the flu.

                      Is there a reason I should ignore that and get the shot?

                        I've never felt sick after getting the flu shot. People only get the flu because they already had it before they got the shot.
                        I also wonder how many people don't immunize their children on this site.

                          The military used to force them on us, I always felt terrible for a few days at least afterwards. I haven't gotten one since and haven't had the flu, knock on wood.
