Anyone find it ironic that they post on their FB page almost every day, yet nothing at all on the 12th (not even condolences?).... https://www.facebook.com/littleriver.dragway ....apparently still the classy place it's always been.
Probably have been advised by counsel not to say anything that could be misconstrued as admitting fault.

I have been down that track multitueds of times and my cars never had a problem. There won't be any lawsuits that would hold up in court or hurt the track as each racer signs a waiver. He had a helmet and belt on which is the only safety requirement by IHRA standards before you hit the 1/4 mile traps. Anything that will be paid out would be pushed towards the insurance company.

I do know anytime im hard on throttle in the '12 GT it tries to break loose at 3-4 shift especially power shifting. I would imagine it would be worse in a 500. I also know this is why all of the racers(including myself) want all tracks to put up concrete barriers. The only time you see these types of crashes or catapults are when you have guardrails involved(i.e Northstar and the car that went into the pit area on top of the truck).

Bingo. It's a shame that even offering condolences is now viewed as admitting fault, but this is the litigious society we have created for ourselves.

Those waivers are far from water tight. I used to sign mine as Daffy Duck, Douche McGee and sometimes John Force. Not only that but who says the driver actually filled out the tech card? I've driven other cars many times without being the person associated with the card.

That waiver is meant to protect the track from accidents but if they are negligent in any way that waiver is meaningless. Negligence is pretty easy to prove on a drag strip. Things like trees being too close to the guard rail, habitual lack of prep work, not repairing damage to the walls or racing surfaces, letting cars make passes beyond what they are tech'd to, etc...

The track is sanctioned by the IHRA and part of that sanctioning includes an insurance policy. I'd imagine they'll pay out their $10k immediately, no questions asked. Then it's the track's problem.

Even if the owner goes bankrupt the track will just be sold to the next guy. They are a fantastic mechanism for laundering money.

                Little River Drag Strip

I remember going there as a high school kid in 1963. When they ran "A" Gas and the Super Stock cars, the flag man would move from the middle of the track to the left side. The strip was so narrow that if either car got even a little sideways, the flagger was in trouble. Of course, the Super Stocks were running 13's, and "A" Gas was maybe in the mid 12's. Seems like a lifetime ago. Once a car lost it on the top end and ran off into the river. The track was short too.
