  • Getting all wisdom teeth at age 36 extracted in the AM..

.. Apparently they are all impacted, have bone loss and chronic infection. Who has had them removed? Quick recovery or not? Any pointers to expedite the recovery? Was planning on Dove hunting Saturday morning....

You are F....d. No seriously, you will walk in and sit down. They will start a conversation with you. Then you wake up at home somehow? But it is the next week that is miserable! When your teeth, jaw, face hurt. Life is miserable. You can't smile, laugh, move in anyway that is comfortable.

    Good luck......

You'll be fine in a few days...take the antibiotics...hell mix alcohol with them if you want...I had mine all removed at the same time after one became impacted and infected and I survived. After about 2 weeks it was pretty much like it never happened except no more pain.

Just make sure to get them all removed at once or you'll never go back. If you smoke, this week would be a great one to quit - dry socket is a motherfucker.

As stated above, once they start the gas you'll count from 10-1, and then you wake up. I picked Jluv up from getting his removed, it was absolutely hilarious. He made me pull over so he could dance on the side of the road lol

You're going to experience the most awesome nap you've ever taken in your life. You're gonna wake up and not know what the fuck is going on for a few minutes. You'll get half way home before your head is completely cleared up and you're awake and functional. It's not much different than having a normal tooth pulled, if you've been through that before. Also will depend on your threshold for pain. If you're a wuss, the first week will be hell for you. If not, then you'll feel some "discomfort" for a day or so, and that's about it. Stock up on pudding cups, jello, ice cream, soup...anything that doesn't require chewing. And keep your holes clean so you don't get dry sockets. A good dentist will have you come in once or twice a week for several weeks after to re-pack your sockets. Don't use a straw or smoke at all.

I had all of mine surgically taken out when I was 23. Was back at work 2 days later. It's not that big of a deal. You'll feel a shit-ton better after having them taken out than you do now.

What these guys said, plan on being out of it a day or so. I remember waking up on the couch drooling pretty good.

I think its blown way out of proportion. I had three pulled in Iraq. I took one dose of pain pills the day of. Never needed the rest. In fact I traded all my hydocodone for a sure fire and a blackhawk bag.

The only thing that sucks is little piece of food getting stuck in the hole. A gentle swooshing of water usually cleans them out.

Gas??? Wish I could have gotten that. My doc gave me novacain and went to work. 30 minutes and I was out the door. None of mine were impacted though. Didn't really hurt that week either. Just took my codone every 6 hours like he wanted.

Had all 4 done when I was 18. They had to cut the lower ones out of my jaw, so I was completely out. I remember looking over when they started the IV, turning my head back to my right, and that was it. Then vaguely getting into my dads van... Then waking up the next day, getting up like everything was fine, putting in my contacts etc. Went to spit out the gauze and all this blood just streamed out of my mouth. I got dizzy, turned back around, took my contacts back out laid back down and slept for another 12 hours. It was pretty bad, but then again I think mine were worse than most. Don't be a dumbass and go fucking around out in the world a day after.

I had all 4 of mine removed last summer. All were impacted and one had a major cyst under it that was into the bone. Walk in lay you back, your asleep, your awake, your droggy a few days. Then it is over. I got an infection where the cyst was removed from, and now that hurt like man tears hurt when they had to clean it out unnumbed! Besides that though, the three others i didnt even notice after a few days!

BE SURE you clean then sockets out!!

He called in hydrocodone, but that doesn't really do anything to me. What is stronger I can request for the pain?
