Which truck should I get...

Well I wasn't looking for a pissing match.... Anyway, if I don't haul anything except once in a blue moon, how bad off would I be getting the 5.0? That used one for sale I feel like he can wiggle on the price some.... But I've been leary because it isn't ecoboost...

I know I probably just need to go to a lot and drive both, just too busy at work to do that at the moment. 😣

Crap I forgot the ecoboost is direct injected! Even more reason why the 5.0 is the better engine. Less crap to worry about down the road.

I'll give you that, the new 6.2 in GM trucks are beasts, the problem is I hate the exterior and interior of GM's new trucks.

Dude...seriously, don't just go buy one or the other until you've had a chance to drive both. As I said in my earlier post, everyone's situation is different...only YOU know which one will be better suited for your situation, and that starts with at least driving them both for comparison. If you don't have the time right now, then wait until you do.

To the OP, I was in a four door 13' F-150 4x4 with the 5.0 this weekend and it was getting on it with four people in it, all weekend.

Having owned and driven both, the ecoboost is the better daily driver and hauler/tow vehicle should one need it for that. The 5.0 is good and pulls well once you get the engine speed above 3,500rpm. The ecoboost pulls hard and accelerates effortlessly from idle... I didn't like having to push the accelerator to the floor in the 5.0 to get any kind of decent acceleration.

If you want a race truck to mod and make big power and go fast in a straight line, the 5.0 is the better platform. If you want a stock truck that drives nice, has plenty of power for anything you might want to haul/tow, and plan on leaving it pretty much stock so as not to void a warranty, the ecoboost wins hands down. There is just no comparison, stock for stock, between the 2 on which is more capable...ecoboost.

I love all the guys putting opinions on which engine is better, when they have never even driven them. Stock the ecoboost will out run about every truck out there, simple bolt ons and tune, it will outrun everything out there. Its not just about being faster, the powerband is way more usable. Tons of tourqe off idle, you dont have to smash on it to go anywhere, and its whisper quite, unlike the 5.0.

Oh yeah I test drove a 4x4 5.0 this weekend. It drove really well. I have drove the eco's also and really I couldn't tell a huge difference in just rolling around.

Eco-Boost FTW. The 5.0 feels gutless after driving the 5.0. I just bought a loaded Eco-Boost CrewCab for 30K. Nav, Sunroof, Cooled/Heated Seats, etc. etc.

I'll take the 5.0, I'm sure it has enough pep for a truck, and can haul just fine. It's a fucking truck not a racecar. I just can accept a 6 cylinder in a truck besides a diesel even if it is a bit faster
