  • Need help finding a digital camera

My current digital camera is several years old now and after my last couple of vacations I'm starting to find it lacking some features that I really want such as GPS location and NFC/Wi-Fi to picture transfer/uploads.

Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough but I haven't found a compact digital camera that has both features. I tried going to Best Buys website but their filtering capabilities are severely lacking. Any website suggestions on where I can search for a camera with the features I'm wanting? Any suggestions on a camera that has these features?

My AW110 has wifi and GPS. Or if you can find one with just GPS you can add wifi with one of the enabled SD cards. I'm happy with my camera. Underwater photos leave something to be desired and it doesn't have much of an optical zoom but those are always tradeoffs when looking for compacts.

That brings up a good point, maybe I just need to look for a GPS enabled camera and add a wifi card to transfer photos to my camera/internet instead. I'll still keep looking but that could be something I could do as a work around.

The Lumix DMC-ZS30 and Canon SX280 HS seem to meet your criteria as well.

Most camera's have and optional card or bluetooth that will sync with your phones GPS. You might be able to get an entry level DSLR for the price range.

True, they are starting to use apps to sync with smartphones. My Nikon has one that lets you use the phone as a viewfinder and controller and of course will upload photos if you want. Still though it has it's own GPS and wifi. If I'm out of the country I really don't want my phone doing anything data related.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody. I think I'm leaning towards the Nikon COOLPIX S9500 that abecx suggested. It's got the features I want in a size that's "pocketable" with a price tag to match (right around $200). Hopefully the picture quality will be as good as my Sony DSC-WX5 that I've been using for a few years.
