Right. We thought my son had either Autism or Asperger's disorder, but after seeing several specialists, he has neither. He does have a form of sensory processing disorder. A lot of sensitivities to sights, sounds, smells, feels and tastes. Something that doesn't quite jive with him right, we'll have a Rain Man episode. Most of the time, he just acts differently. Many of his issues can be controlled by diet.

Also, have him evaluated by the school district. It can help with special needs sessions and treatment, not the special ed classes either. Most of the time, it can be controlled through a good diet and an environment that suits his senses.

We've got it down to a science to where no one can really tell. Granted, there will be occasional extenuating circumstances that will yield an episode.

Dr. Rao had one come in with similar symptoms. He found it was nothing more than an allergic food reaction.
