I have doubts he could earn enough of a living to be self sustaining, even in the wilderness.
He sounds perfect for a career in IT.

As a society we seem to glom on to characters like him thinking they have some sort of enlightened insight on the world, and life in general. As it was, it is more likely he just has mental / emotional issue(s) that keep him from functioning normally in society. I feel for the guy. He probably would have been better off if he were able to pass away naturally without ever being discovered.

Harder to "live off the land" when you have to hide 24/7.

True, but the story reads as though he depended 100% on the food he stole. I didn't see anywhere they mentioned him hunting or supplementing his survival with other things. I may have missed it.

haha! Sleep is underrated as a luxury.

He wasn't really in a good place for it.
The Belgrade Lakes area, where Knight lived, is cow-and-horse rural, nothing like the vast North Woods of Maine, wild and unpeopled. Knight's camp was located on private property, just a few hundred feet from the nearest cabin, in an area crisscrossed by dirt roads.

I read this a while back and actually thaught it was already posted here.

I think its cool as hell and they should release the dude and leave him be. Now that people know about him he wont have to steal as much propane and could burn wood.

I applaude people like this guy. Id give him supplies

I don't really read many of the TL;DR stories you post, but I got caught up in this one. Pretty damn interesting.

That's a damn shame. He didn't even get a chance to ease into things.
