As for the topic at hand did you read the state's report? It showed where they tried talking with her and why they felt the teaser was the best option. I agree with what they did if for no other reason it worked 100% as intended and didn't cause any injuries.

So you didn't read anything except the original article... gotcha. I've never had to defuse a situation where I could get hurt. What's that like?

They did exactly as trained. This might shock you but I've had to answer calls where people were trying to harm themselves and I could get hurt. Luckily no one was injured but that doesn't mean it couldn't have happened. Just because I've been able to do it without having to use a taser (that I don't carry because the department doesn't have enough) doesn't mean I'm going to negatively judge someone else because the subject was 8 and not 18.

I'm arm chairing man, I couldn't do your job. Though I'd rather risk injury in certain, albeit very rare circumstances with certain folks. Minimize the trauma, we don't need more fucked up people!

Of course it's fucked up she's 8. She still has a knife though and like I said I'm not trying to get cut by anyone. I agree with others that said this is mainly the babysitters fault. And obviously the parents have not done everything they could when it comes to teaching their kid what's acceptable and what's not...
