CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An 8-year-old boy was taken into custody after police say he stabbed his four-year-old sister in the neck.
It happened Sunday afternoon at the family's home on Hunt Avenue in Charleston.

Police say the boy was stabbing his sister's baby doll with a steak knife. The girl tried to get the doll back, but police say her brother got upset and stabbed her.

The girl was taken to the hospital. Her injuries are non-life threatening, but she is being kept overnight for observation.

The boy's father told police he is not violent. He is staying with his grandmother until a decision is made in court as to where to place him.

Instead they let us get to the end of the street and turn our unhappy asses around on our own... Kids do dumbass shit... The problem was calling 911 to begin with and letting stupid ass cops "defuse" the situation.

This analogy shows how off base you are...threatening to run away vs committing suicide should never be weighted the same. Running awy doesn't hold near the threat that a child holding a knife to commit suicide does.

I agree the babysitter should have handled it long before it got to that point but didn't.

Please tell me you are trolling. Do you have children if you don't mind me asking?

If you're referring to me then yes. And if my kid grabbed a knife and threatened me they'd get a swift boot up their ass. But I'm also not the pussy babysitter that called the police either.

I guess because my cousin would do this same shit..

"Well I'll just go kill myself then!"

"I'll just jump out of the window"

It was a desperate cry for attention because his dad was a pos and beat his mom, guess what? It took "3 strikes" of domestic violence before the Ennis PD let him go and Middlothian took him up as a school police officer.

I have went through this first hand and know how crazy kids can get and the motives behind it.. They don't know what suicide is at that age, they just know it triggers extreme emotion and attention.

My analogy holds weight because most kids aren't fucking bat shit crazy.

Also a lot of you are thinking as if it was your own kid. You know your own kids and how they will generally react. As an officer showing up I have to attempt to establish a very quick relationship with a child that is obviously not listening to anyone. If I think I can talk to the kid and have them drop it of course I'd do that first. If I think I can grab them without being stabbed then sure it do that. But if not and I feel the taser is the only thing that'll stop anyone from getting hurt I'm obviously using it...

No it doesn't hold weight. This kid obviously had some serious issues

True most arent, but some are... As a stranger dealing with a kid you don'tknow you know do you want to take that risk? If so good luck I hope it works out... As for me I'm not going home injured if I can avoid it.

I'd be interesting in the time frame things happened, part of me thinks they walked in the door and tased her out of laziness.

Well I hope you never have to deal with a strange irate child as you've already made up your mind on what you plan to do. I don't think the same precautions should be used for crazy kids.

I said exactly how I would try to handle the situation. I've dealt with irate youngsters before. Never one with a knife thankfully but I'm not going to fault someone for using a taser if they felt it needed to be used in that situation.

A short time frame indicates they were immediately concerned for her safety on the flip side...

Making a conviction based in such limited data is foolish.

I would think that you can fairly quickly assess the demeanor of an 8-year old, in terms of dangerous or not. There is an immediately discernible difference between a generally uncooperative, but docile child and Chucky.
