I don't see the problem. I used to work with kids ages 8 to 17 who behaved this same way. Many of the kids who I worked with had hepatitis and you just wanted to avoid any physical contact if at all possible. Restraints done usually involved more than one person to avoid injury on all sides. There were many times I wish we had tasers. Cops who we worked with felt sorry for us staff who had zero self-defense tools at our disposal.
You clearly don't know how dangerous an 8 year old girl can be! Those 4 officers put their lives on the line to protect and serve! What a clusterfuck, my question is how the hell did the sitter let it get to that point?
My daughter is 7, she can easily be overpowered by 1 person so it should be cake for 2 police officers.

Ever dealt with a kid that was emotionally fucked up from watching his mother get decapitated by his father and her head put on a dish in place of the turkey and placed on the table on Thanksgiving day? Little bit different than your normal 8 year old. Doesn't matter the size or strength of someone if they have nothing to lose. This kid may not be that extreme, but it follows the same principle.

All it takes is one to distract and the other to take her down.
They did disarm her and no one got hurt. As opposed to the opposite of going hands on where someone could potentially get cut...
I meant without resorting to tazing or mace. Your concern about getting hurt by an 8yr old with a knife if silly. As stated, the current LEO mantra of "home at all costs" is just another warrior cop mentality. Applying this to a situation like the above is stupid. But, as you say, the situation was diffused and there were no unexpected injuries. I still think most of today's LEOs are pussies.

Agreed...but no need to "take her down." Just get close enough to grab her wrist and have another officer distract her. But, they were concerned about a paper cut so they tazed the kid.
