Still love my 350z one of the most reliable cars ever.

I'm pretty sure that thing is a cvt if it is it has 2 solenoids and I think 1 or 2 valve bodys. When I worked at oreillys a regular tried to rebuild one. Worst experience of his life so he says.

On my wife's 08 Versa CVT, which was a absolutely problem free car, they randomly extended the warranty to 120k free of charge. I think they figured out there were some issues. The service guy told me they just pull them and replace with a new one there is no rebuilding. I like the technology and the car drove great.

I don't think the Maxima is CVT or was then but I could be wrong.

Then they'll probably tell you it's most likely a valve body and it's $1000 for the part plus 3 hours to replace it, however it might also need a $3k reman so you might as well just replace the whole thing.
Frontier transmissions tend to take in coolant from cooler in radiator. Possible engineered so at last something can fuck up. Heard complaints on early GTR trans. They will scrap a trans also.
