Now that I have listed 2 separate instances... a more appropriate question would be, can you read?

I fixed this mans green S10 pick up at Huffines Chevy when I worked there in 09. I fixed it about a month before this happened. He was very nice, I would have never suspected he would do this.

Coppell resident Kathleen Garza was murdered in 2009 and it was months before police found her remains. Police said it was because the man charged refused to cooperate at first.
FOX 4 viewer Ashley wrote to heather Hays asking, "Whatever happened in the Garza case? Is the killer behind bars? Did they ever find her body?"
Garza was last seen in April 2009 in a Coppell grocery store with a man her family thought was like a father to her. Surveillance video showed Garza with 74-year-old Leroy Tellgren, who once worked with the Garza in the Coppell ISD.
Just four days later Coppell Police arrested Tellgren for murdering the 49-year-old mother of four.
Investigators found blood in Tellgren's Chevy S-10, Garza's purse on the truck's floorboard and her jewelry in Tellgren's pocket -- but no body.
Police said Tellgren would not cooperate with the investigation, so he sat behind bars in Denton County facing a capital murder charge with a $1 million bond.
Six months later, in October 2009, Tellgren finally told police they could find Garza's remains in a wooded area off Business 121 and Fish Hatchery Road in Lewisville.
Within two weeks Tellgren was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Prison officials say he died of health issues in July of 2011.

In my young 20s, an old friend of mine traveled out of state to get revenge on a guy who shot and killed his cousin, who he was very close with. Found him and fought him behind a club, beat his ass really good, and then cut his throat. Never got caught. He was a good dude before and he has lived a wholesome life since then.

My uncle is facing 2~10 years for involuntary manslaughter.

Not sure if that counts as straight up murder.

People can and do change. It takes a bit of inner work, and I truly believe that SOME people can be rehabilitated. My friend who made it off of death row speaks at conventions and in front of politicians and tells a story that has the weight and depth to reach people like no other could. To hear him tell about his past and finding a way out would bring tears anyone's eyes. How grateful his is for a second and even third and fourth chance at life, and how should have been put to death over 20 years ago and been nothing but a file in some dusty cabinet, but instead has been a contributor, packing good things into the stream of life. But really he does all of that to continue to save himself.

Some people are criminals and killers because they have that mental defect. Others go down a road they never thought possible due to drug addiction. I believe for those types there is always hope, provided they are willing to follow a simple plan. People can clean up their lives and make a complete turnaround. Not all have had enough. We think we can beat the game this time, so we try it one more time, sometimes with fatal results.

I do agree with you but I see it as an ignorance lesson. Offenders all get to the line, some pay their dues and work back to being a contributing part of society. Others, well... it awakens the monster inside them and all it does is grow. These are the people I fear if the shit hits the fan. Learning to recognize psychopath is actually a hard thing to do, most haven't had the chance to exploit their sickness.

A few years ago some foster parents living in the neighboring upscale lake community wrapped two of their kids up in carpets and dumped them somewhere. Apparently, that's how they punished them (rolling them up in rug and leaving them in the garage for a couple hours), but it killed them this time. They were collecting money on the kids somehow, so they went to prison for fraud (Her: 40 years, Him: 30 years).
The past week or so, they have been turning the place upside down searching for the bodies. The Texas Rangers were out on the lake diving for the bodies on their DPS boat, along with a myriad of different police. In addition, they completely excavated the backyard of the house the kids were murdered at. I'm not sure if they have found anything or not. My GF went to school years ago with the kids in that family, but never suspected the parents of being so sadistic.

This just blows my mind- I opened this thread and thought I would find 6 or so stories but never this many. That's a hell of lot of known murders for a small sampling.
