Typically I'll be there 2.0-2.5 hours early. That early of a flight 1.5-2 hours early should be fine.

You'll be fine 1.5 hours prior to boarding at that time of morning at DFW. But 2 hours is the safest for international flights.

International, I get there 2 hours early. Domestic, I get there an hour early. On Domestic, if you're checking bags in, they do not accept baggage for check in 40 minutes prior to the flight time (found this out the hard way once). Keep in mind the time it takes to park (however you're going to do it). I usually park P-Express, and that takes near 15 minutes to park, and shuttle in.

              This, exactly.

I have a layover in Miami with a plane change. Would this count as a domestic flight?

If you check a bag in Dallas and pick it up in another country, then it's international.

Oh, and I get there about 30-45 mins early depending on time of day, park at the gate, and go through security to board immediately. That's for domestic flights with a carry-on bag. For international, I tend to be about 90 minutes early.

Do you have the TSA-prescreen? If not, you're a braver soul than I. I've had TSA lines last 30+ minutes before. I'd rather be bored in the terminal than be concerned outside the gates.

Same here, but I do 1.5 hours for a domestic flight. It's no big deal to read a book for another half hour. But it's a real motherfucker to figure out how to get to your destination if there is some holdup with security.

Platinum. I need to do pre-check, but I've been lazy on the paperwork. I fly a lot though, so I can cut through the platinum line at security. I have also learned enough to know sometimes it's easier at DFW to go into another terminal (through security) and then take the train to your gate or just enter the terminal at another security checkpoint without much traffic.

Not enough miles for me! Company won't cover the pre-screen and I'm too cheap to pay for it. I've walked to different gates to avoid security, but never told the guy a different terminal. Any tips on the terminals for security minimization?
