  • Can someone help me get an address of another person?

I made the age-old mistake of letting a friend pay me back on a car I gave him. He made 6 payments on the car and then decided to stop paying for the last 6 months and since then has wrecked it and the starter went out supposedly. He refuses to pay any more to me so I would like to take him to small claims court but they need his permanent address which I do not have.

Is there someone on here willing to look up his name and see if they can pull the address? Thanks in advance

I'll just say what of a dick your friend is. But small claims you will win, if title in your name and if you have something in writing. But, then he will never pay.

I say go get the car if in your name still. Or report that bitch stolen.

i thought about picking up the car but after finding out its wrecked and not starting im just not sure it is worth it to have it towed back to me. im about 4 hours away from him. i have signed document from the both of us so i assume i should win pretty easy.

i also read on the county website if he still does not pay then a county sheriff will take some of his property and auction it off to pay me back. any experience with this?

        I don't, but I'd call and ask.

lol, you're never going to see a dime, even if you win. What kind of vehicle was it?

                  its a 97 bmw m3

why do you say I will never see a dime? They can't force him to pay? What about employer garnishing wages?

Depends on the state. As far as I know in Texas the IRS debt and child support is all that can be garnished from your wages.

They can, but they won't. And they won't garnish his wages in Texas unless it's for taxes or child support.

Get the car, sell it for what you can, and cut your losses. Hard lesson learned.

                            Friend not paying for car

If you take him to small claims court and win, he still probably will not pay you. If he loses to you in court, file a judgement in county court. The interest clock starts running on his debt. If he ever tries to buy a house or sell ahouse or apply for a big loan, that judgement will show up. He will have to pay you then. I had a client in my business skip out on a $1500.00 bill, and I collected 3 years later when her father died and left her a small house that she and her brother sold. I got paid in full plus interest from the title company. I got two others for over $2000.00 when property was sold by the person who stiffed me. If all else fails, issue a 1099 to the IRS as a forgiven debt. The amount will show up as income to him, and Uncle Sugar will come after him. It won't help you, but you could cause him lots of trouble. It might even cause him not to get a tax refund if he had one coming. He would be pissed then I bet. I did that several times. I guess I am an ASSHOLE.

Not if he is smart enough to hire a lawyer. In fact, if you impede him from selling the house he can turn around and sue you. lol
