Dallas hires quite frequently and they hire by the 100s at times. Typically each city will issue a test once a year. Check tcfp.com to see most of the Texas departments hiring. You can also check out the city's website.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

              Fort Worth here.
              17 years and running.

The larger the city (Fort Worth, Dallas, Arlington) the better the pay, better benefits, better opportunity to promote.

Arlington is currently recruiting. Look into it.
Fort Worth won't have a test for several more months.

What you must keep in mind is that the process takes MONTHS.
Written exam, physical agility, background check, interview and then actually getting hired is not a fast process.
              But it's completely worth it.

THanks! So if the hiring process takes a while, will i be able to keep my current job? The dallas website says the next enrollment period is early 2015.

You keep your current job until you receive a phone call or letter saying "Congratulations"....

My son is taking Fire Academy in HS. These are all dual credit classes and he will graduate all ready to take the final with AFD. It's a great program and opportunity and can start at 48k at 18.

48k to be a fireman? Maybe with a ton of overtime.

Actually, after the Academy it's $47,028/year. Not bad.
