A guy I knew did that.

Man this story hit me a bit. What were the parents and instructer thinking? Iv been training my 13 year old girl since she was 5. We started with airsoft and moved up. She has a .22 single six pistol, marlin 60 rifle, single shot .223, and a .410. Her range awareness is spot on, she wont even point a toy gun at anybody. She can load, chamber, and un-chamber all of her weapons, and clean them. I would trust her with my life with any of my guns if needed, but i was a nervous wreck last month when i finally (after so much begging it was driving me crazy) let her shoot her first semi-auto pistol. A .380, and she did fine. I know she is an excellent shooter and i would still not let her shoot a small fully auto gun. She wants to shoot my 9mm so bad, but i told her she has to wait till she is 15. The instructer should have known better. Fully auto should not be in the hands of children.

Now that's cool. Maybe one day I can check that off my list of life experiences.

Been seeing a guy on Facebook who advertise shoots for like $100 or so.

Sounds like a better way of doing it. Right now I just take people and they shoot all my ammo.

Cool off during a 10-day waiting period, versus renting a gun after filling out a form. It's one of the only semi-valid arguments for a waiting period actually.

Lol yup. How it happens at my house. I tell friends just bring ammo and shoot what I got. But I always end up shooting my stash

A waiting period does nothing. It has never shown to prevent any sort of violence, and most of the states that have them have higher gun related crime than the ones that don't. No correlation there. And despite all that shit, you can still buy FTF without any waiting period. If there's a will, there is a way.

Sadly, the instructor paid for his idiocy with his life.

I've seen other ranges do this, but the instructor has gloves on and holds the barrel down. Also, limit the number of rounds in the mag.

I am not advocating a waiting period, just that this scenario lends the slightest bit of credence for those that are for one.

Here in CA it would likely be a lot more difficult to find someone willing to illegally sell a gun FTF (still have to wait 10 days by law), versus renting one.
