At what point do you change a full coverage vehicle to liability only?

I have the 12 5.0 paid off so am wondering if I should put it as liability only or keep the full coverage.

....You must be made of money if you can take a hit that expensive.

Dont do it, my pops made the same idiotic mistake and 6 months later he totaled his truck. Got $0 money for it vs getting $15k to put towards a new one.
